Someplace Special at Lundy Hall originated as La Trina’s Catering Hall, owned by Milton and Mary Lundy. Daniel (Dan) Ruotolo purchased the property in 2014 and transformed it into Someplace Special with the intention of continuing the same standard of excellence.
Dan has dedicated the Event Hall itself in the Lundy’s honor in order to preserve the spirit of Milton’s passion and belief in entrepreneurship and education for young people, and to memorialize everything the Lundy’s have done to serve the Glassboro Community. And thus, Someplace Special at Lundy Hall was born.
Sharing that same passion for education and entrepreneurship, when turning the business into Someplace Special, Dan implemented the vision to revitalize the Glassboro community and engage all community members including one population that is often overlooked: Youth.
Through collaboration with Student Working Professionals, Someplace Special will offer students in the Gloucester County community the opportunity to help run the business by assisting our staff in all aspects of the event hall. Someplace Special offers paid internships for youth who are interested in the business and culinary industries.
Dan believes that “If you can help a student tap into their passion, then they’ll get up every day and be excited about that aspect of their life.” And that’s exactly what Someplace Special will do for local students: empower them to be the workforce leaders of the future. Students will be, and have been, an integral part in developing and managing Someplace Special from culinary, to marketing, to accounting.
